Lifecycle-based proactive reliability engineering: from components to system-of-systems

Abstract

Ensuring a product or solution delivers its intended mission during its expected useful life in a customer application environment is a significant challenge, given the many complex interacting variables involved. Adopting lifecycle-based and proactive mindset and relevant methods are critical for effective and efficient risk prevention and product health, in order to meet or exceed customer and business expectations. This workshop will provide a review of practical reliability engineering approaches, processes, and organizations within an industry context with real-world examples. The primary scope will be on proactive reliability risk assessment, identification, and analysis to drive cost-effective mitigations throughout the product lifecycle, which includes early concept development, engineering prototyping, design and manufacturing process maturation, to production and sustaining stage continuous improvement till end-of-life phases. The emphasis will be on systemic and practical methodologies that cover component to system reliability assurance. Lastly, examples of latest advances in reliability technology innovations will be discussed as well. Participants are encouraged to submit questions beforehand and engage actively during the workshop.
